Question
Hello,
I purchased a very old wooden statue of a figure standing upright praying.  I don't know if it is a man or woman but it is has long royal robes and long flowing hair and a crown.
She is standing on a crescent moon and on the bottom part of the moon is a man's face.
Would you know who this would be and why the moon and whose face is it on the moon?

Answer
                          Peace

Dear Don
The statue I suspect to our Lady crushing the Head of Satan (not his face).
In Genesis 3:15 DR, we read of God speak to Satan:

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

In new translations renders the text neutered or with male only pronouns.  In the Hebrew the used can be: He, She, They or even It, depending on context.
Most scholars tend towards She or They. The "They"  is special type of they. One of the persons can do the action themselves, but helps the other person(s) to do the action.
Much like the relationship between Christ and ALL BELIEVERS, but especially our Lady. This verse is called by some the Proto-Gospel or First Gospel, for it is the first promise of a savior for man.

In Revelation 12:1, we read

And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

The woman is our Lady or the Church or Both. I can explain furture if you desire.
