Catholics/unforgivable sin

Question
What exactly is the "unforgivable sin" mentioned in Mark, Luke and Matthew? And how such a sin exist if belief in Jesus Christ always leads to salvation?

Answer
It is persistent rejection of the mercy of God.  Without that, there can be no salvation.  Belief in Christ is not sufficient.  We must carry out that belief in Christ in our moral actions and have sincere contrition for sin and a firm purpose of amendment, fortified by the Sacrament of Penance.
