QUESTION: hi i got a 5mth old kitten, that i have had since newborn, well to day she started actin weird, her pupils are quite big and shes acting off balance, almost dizzy and disorented, i phoned the vet and they said keep an eye on her, shes a bit off her food and couldnt get on the sofa, please help with any advice of what it sounds like, thankyou so much

ANSWER: Hi Cheryl,

It could be a few things. It could be an infection, toxoplasmosis, feline vestibular disorder, trauma, or a toxin. Your vet should have seen her. Try to get her in to see the vet. And if he puts you off go to another vet. Good luck and let me know what happens.

QUESTION: hi, thanks for your reply, her back was arched aswel and her sister was also limping, i think that the dogs along the rd had chased them, shes much better today and has had a little walk, she much more alert, if shes not back 2 herself by the weekend then im taking her 2 a dif vet

If it's Feline Vestibular Disorder this will clear up on its own. I'm glad she seems better. I wouldn't let your little ones outside anymore. You were lucky. The dog didn't catch them. It's better for them to stay inside. Good luck.

Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. Before you swat me, before you strike me, remember that I have teeth that could draw blood. And claws to strike back. And yet I choose not to attack you. If I don't act right then have me checked to see what is wrong. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too will grow old. On the difficult journey, on the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there.
