Question

this is shadow
i just got a kitten from the local spca. they knew nothing about him. they said they thought he was 8 weeks old but there is no way that is possible. he is so tiny. he is sick right now but i don't know what is wrong with him and i don't have themoney right this second to bring him to the vet. not until  Friday or the beginning of this coming up week. his nose is warm and dry, he will not eat unless i help him,he wont go to the bathroom unless i put him in the litter box myself, he can walk but he does it very slowly, his eyes are opened and all. he also wont drink nothing unless i give it to him. i have been giving him kitten food water and a lil bit of milk all mixed together to basically make it mush. i think he is about 5 weeks or so and he was taking too early from his mother. what should i do for him? help me please

Answer
Hi Brit,

I am sending you my recipe for something called Kitty Glop. This stuff is great for raising kittens on. Feed him about 3-4 times a day on this. It will put weight on him and get him fluids. Also leave water out for him. Looking at the picture, (he's a cutie), he could be 8 weeks max.

Some kittens form a real big attachment to their owners. Yours sounds like this is the case. He is looking to you as his mommy. What you are doing is fine. Is the litterbox too tall for him to climb into by himself? I use a cardboard soda flat as a litter pan for very young kittens. Keep him warm. I am also sending you a link as to what to expect as he gets older.

Good luck with him.

Ciao, Karen

KITTY GLOP

INGREDIENTS:
1 can evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not low or non fat)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox gelatin
1 egg yolk (beaten, )
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1- 2 jars Stage One Baby food (chicken or turkey)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food, and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and pedialyte to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.

Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator. Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer, thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature ,(milk form), or a little warmer, before feeding.
