Question
This conserning a younger cat of mine she has had three batchs of kittens. All of which seemed to scare her when she has them. The newest kittens she started taking care of. They are around three weeks old now I think.  They are walking around pretty well and I cant keep them in their box. They are starting to get teeth but they are rather small cats. They are (or they act)healthy but they are small. Lately I notest the mom hasnt been feeding them or I havent seen her  in the box. These cats live outside and they have been crying all night but them mom will not come. Its cold and she isnt seting with them so there inside. What should I start feeding them? Or should I keep trying to get their mom to take care of them?

should I feed them by bottle or kitten food?

...also they were realy hungrey so feed them some warm milk. they ate a little but I was afraid it would hurt them so I stop. Now i read on this website that cows milk is bad. Im not giving them any more but will they be ok if i give them formula tomorrow?

-please emial me thank you
Heather

Answer
Hi Heather,

The kittens need to fed and taken care of. I am attaching my recipe for something called Kitty Glop. Feed this to them. You will need to get a kitten nursing bottle to feed them. Set up a litter box for them. And make sure they are warm. Getting chilled is the number one killer of kittens. Here's a link that has some good tips on raising the kittens. http://www.2ndchance.info/orphankitten.htm

You might want to get the mom neutered. This will be the best thing to do. She sounds that she isn't good mom material. It happens sometimes.
Good luck.

Ciao, Karen

KITTY GLOP

INGREDIENTS:
1 can evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not low or non fat)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox gelatin
1 egg yolk (beaten, )
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1- 2 jars Stage One Baby food (chicken or turkey)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food, and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and pedialyte to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.

Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator. Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer, thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature ,(milk form), or a little warmer, before feeding.
