Question
Our mother cat had kittens which are around 6 weeks old, she was crying hard one day and we checked out her belly to find that her kittens bit off 2 nipples, the pointy parts are gone and a scab has covered both sides.  We put them on soft kitten food with saucers of milk.  My question is "can she still nurse the kittens until they come of age to live independently?"

Answer
Hi
It could be that she just has sore nipples and giving them a chance to heal is a good idea. After that I would let the kittens back to nurse off of her again, I'm sure they every thing will be fine. Even human mums get very sore nipples some times and have to stop nursing for a few days.

It is important though that the kittens can get back to mums milk as soon as possible

I have a web page about this herehttp://www.our-happy-cat.com/kitten-care.html

best wishes Kate
