Question
I just brought a trapped ferel cat home from being spayed at a clinic. I am keeping the cat in the cage for a few days until she heals. How and where do I put the cat litter in there for her? Do I pile the cat litter underneath the cage? Or inside the cage?

Answer
HI Ruby,

I use a large dog crate for caging cats who will be released. Don't leave a cat in a trap it's way too small. A large pet kennel will be OK if you have one. You can put the litter inside the cage, a small tray made for ferrets works well. Use unscented clumping litter that is the most like sand - most cats will use this naturally. If you put enough litter in, you can get away without changing it for 2-3 days if she is territorial about her cage or if you can't open the cage easily without her escaping.

Kudos to you for spaying this feral cat!
