Question
QUESTION: I hope i've asked a question to the right person. ^^ But here i go..

I have a cat named Blondie, she's a timid one and not very friendly at times, she got pregnant a while back and unfortunately something went wrong, she did not produce enough milk. Therefore i got on control and began feeding them powdered pet milk, which you'd buy from vets, pet shops, etc. Unfortunately in the end, they all seemed to fit and die, they couldn't breathe properly and had diorrhea. That was that until she got pregnant again, she had two kittens on the front lawn, which died. We took her to the vets where the man who was looking after her gave her needles to help her give birth to the three that weren't born. It was a normal litter, and she had milk this time, they're all boys and are now about 3-4 months old. But something odd has happened, two of them keep drooling from the mouth, one has lost his bottom/top teeth and his appetite, even though he wants too he gets so frustrated. The other eats well, and is stronger but their mouths do smell alot. I have no idea what to do, we tried hand feeding the smaller one, but unfortunately his gums started to bleed, and the stench of their saliva is terrible. I was considering a tooth problem, but they're very healthy looking cats. Blondie has had difficulty in both births, so now i'm considering it to be a genetic disorder. I just hope the eldest doesn't get what these two have, it's terrible. Any suggestions on what it might be? I apologize if this confuses you.

ANSWER: Hi Emma,

It may not be a genetic problem. Here's a link that should help answer some of your questions.

You should take them to the vet to get checked out.

I am attaching my recipe for something called Kitty Glop. You can feed this stuff to the kits. It will work wonders on them. I hope this helps you. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen

KITTY GLOP

INGREDIENTS:
1 can evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not low or non fat)
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox gelatin
1 egg yolk (beaten, )
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1- 2 jars Stage One Baby food (chicken or turkey)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food, and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and pedialyte to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.

Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator. Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer, thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature ,(milk form), or a little warmer, before feeding.

QUESTION: I thankyou alot for helping me find some other explanations besides me thinking he was going to die. Unfortunately he eats rarely and wont drink, he also wont let us help him most of the time. The other cat that also had this problem seems alot better today and is not drooling. I'm assuming this was them shedding their teeth, but Larry is obviously taking longer to heal. My mother and i managed to feed him today, as well as give him something to drink, the sides of his mouth are still bleeding and we wonder why, so hopefully for now baking soda will help the pain. Thankyou alot. ^^
Unfortunately we'd like to take him to the vet sooner, but our current money problems stop us.

Answer
Hi Emma,

The Kitty Glop should help him. It's got everything in it that he needs right now. It's very good for sick or convalescing cats.
There are some other things that can cause the problems that your cats are having. Did you put flea medicine on them recently? This can also cause the excessive drolling and mouth ulcers. If you did, don't use that medicine again. Hopefully this will heal up on its own. Keep an eye on him. It could be caused by a virus. There isn't too much you can do about that. Time will help. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
