Question
My male cat, is whinning too much at night,
I am concerned,  he gets up every night around 3 or 4 am, and starts
whinning. I get up make sure he has fresh water and food, I pet him and  he
still cries until about 7 am. He is about 6 years old.
I have tried giving him cat nip at night, but it doesnt seem to work, what can I
do? im desperate, thanks

Answer
Hi
unfortunately night time is when cats are most active and cats who whine or cry are bored and seeking attention or adventure ie this is when they would be out hunting etc.

There isn't much you can do if you have an indoor cat, i always recommend a energetic game about an hour before bedtime and then a meal to settle them down. Also they may have to be confined to one room with lots of toys and things to do if they do get up.

If the cat is now used to getting you up then this will be a difficult habit to break if you do not confine him to his own room. Hopefully the game at bedtime and meal can help settle a lot of cats down over night. lets hope your cat is one of these.

best wishes
