Cats/sore on kitten's head

Question
My newly adopted kitten has a small round sore on her head by her ear.  It has a white crusty look.  Any ideas what it might be?

Answer
Hi Dawn!
It sounds like your kitten may have ringworm. Ringworm is a fungal infection but is treatable. You can buy ointment over the counter that will work, just tell your pharmacist that you think your kitten has ringworm and can he show you where the anti-fungal cream is.
You can, of course, have your Veterinarian treat the problem also.
Please keep in mind that ringworm can be transferred to other pets, and to humans too. Be sure to wash your your hands after handling your new kitten.
Please keep in mind, that since I am not a Veterinarian and can't actually look at your kitten, that this is just a guess.  The anti-fungal cream will not hurt your kitten, even if that's not what it is.
Good luck and God bless,
Becky

Expertise

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
