Cats/4 week old kitten has sore on her back

Question
My kitten was born with a open sore on her back, which at one point healed. The mother keeps re-opening the wound. Her back legs are not working, although I try to exercise  her legs. I am taking her to a vet on Saturday, and I really am asking is there anything I can do to prevent her mother from opening the wound.
I am afraid she is exposing here nerves and spine and damaging her more. I bandage her and when I come home it's off. I have put Band-Aid on her back, it comes off. I don't think the mother is removing it all the time, because the kitten is active and pulls itself around and plays with her sibling. Is there a way to prevent this? I have tried taking her from the mother but she gets depressed and won't feed.
Thank you all,

Answer
Misti,

Rather than a Band-Aid, take an old sock, cut off the foot part and use that as a "body bandage" to see if you can get that wound to heal.  However, taking the kitten into the vet is a very good idea so that the vet can give you some idea of what this may be. I do not like the fact that the back legs are not working as that may be an indicator of other problems. I am wondering if there is already spinal damage, but the vet should be able to give you guidance on that one.

Please let me know what the vet says.

Best regards... Norm.
