Question
My daughter has an older cat, who continues to use the laundry and hide it. Could this cause medical or sickness to her and husband?

Answer
Hi Ginger.  Probably not.  Health threats from cat feces come from ingesting them, so as long as your daughter and her husband don't place their hands in their mouths immediately after handling soiled laundry, there is not likely to be any threat.  Simply washing their hands after cleaning up the mess should put an end to any risk of illness.

If your daughter becomes pregnant, it's always best to have her husband handle any items which could be contaminated with feces, as some cats carry a germs called toxoplasmosis, which can harm fetuses.  Your daughter could also wear rubber gloves to prevent the fetus from being harmed by this germ.  However, healthy adults are not generally at risk.
