Cats - Cat poops out of box right after pooping in box
Expert: Karen Craft - 11/7/2009
Question 15 year old female-diagnosed w IBD 2 months ago. Her poops have returned to a 7 out of 10 but very smelly. She gets Budesomide 1ml nightly. Appears to be very healthy.
But now she poops 3x daily-and right after she poops in the box (which is always cleaned) she poops a little in the next room, usually in her cat bed. I removed the bed, so she tried to use the floor-I chased her into the bathroom, where she immediately pooped a small amount.
I watched her, and she looked like she just had to do it, going into the poop position right in front of me.
She has always been a perfect "box" cat.
She only eats Natural Balance Duck/Pea soft food
Can't confine her due to her sister and house design
This is driving me nuts bc I have to take several trips.
Answer Hi Bob,
The easiest suggestion I can give you is to place another litter pan by her bed. Also try this product, http://www.preciouscat.com/
You can get it at Pet Smart. Also get a low sided litter box for her. She may be having trouble with a bit of arthritis. This should help you with your problem.
Here's a good link that has some great info about what to feed your cat. http://www.catnutrition.org/ibd.php
Good luck and let me know what happens with her.
Ciao, Karen
