Why does my cat groom my sons hair

i think it just a sign of affection. Cats do it to each other a sort of appeasement and greeting. My cat grooms my hand and a few days ago someone else asked me the same question as yours. So it is not uncommon.

I would see it as a gift from the cat to your son.

best wishes Kate
