Question
I HAVE A MOTHER CAT THAT LOST BOTH OF HER NEW BORN KITTENS 5
DAYS AGO. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO JUST FOUND A NEW BORN KITTEN
AND IS CURRENTLY HAND RAISING IT. I WANTED TO KNOW IF I SHOULD
TAKE THE NEW KITTEN AND SEE IF MY MOTHER CAT WILL RAISE IT. I AM
ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE MOTHER CAT MAY NOT HAVE MILK AFTER
FIVE DAYS OR IF SHE COULD EVEN ATTACK AND KILL THE NEW KITTEN.

Answer
Hi Debi,

You can try to see if the mom cat will raise it. Her milk may be drying up but if she takes to the new kitten it will start producing again. I would introduce them and see what happens. If anything, the mom should clean and take care of the kitten. You may still need to feed the kit. When you introduce them she shouldn't harm the kit. Just keep an eye on them. Good luck.
