Cats/Tonkanese Breed - Discharge

Question
Hi I wonder if you can help me.  I have a Tonkinese girl coming up to 1 year old.  She is very small (the runt of 11 kittens).  She has been in season a few times but we always keep her in (thinking of breeding) however the last time I thought she had finished as she stopped calling, and acting strangely bottom up etc for a day so we let her out as we had to go away for 2 days.  When we got back she was very quiet and just sat sleeping for days.  This was on 4th May. She now has constant discharge which is think, creamy/pale green colour.  I am worried that a cat mated with her - do you think this is what has happened - do cats discharge when they are pregnant ?
I hope you can help.  I did speak to a vet and she said that we won't know if she is pregnant for several weeks and no tests are possible - is that right ?

Answer
Alexis,

No, cats do not normally discharge upon becoming pregnant. Even so, I do not like the sounds of whatever she appears to be discharging.  I would still see the vet to make sure it is nothing else, especially, if she has had a behavioral change.

Usually, about 21 days after breeding, if the female is pregnant, the nipples will protrude more and become bright pink.  This phenomenon only lasts for a few days, so you really have to watch.  After the nipples have pinked up they will go back to normal until much later in the pregnancy.

I hope this helps.

Best regards... Norm.
