Question
Hi Norm! I just wanted to give you an update on my Queen and her 6 kittens - they are all doing marvelous!! She never separated them again after April 20th when I asked you about it.  She is a good mother, and watches over all of them.  I thought they would be finished nursing by now, as they have all been eating kitten food for quite a while, but I have seen them all nursing at different times of the day.  I have a friend who is willing to help me get them into rescue so they will have good homes.  How much longer should I wait?  It is getting more and more difficult to think of giving them up, but I now have 13 cats in my house!!  Thank you for all of your advice!

Answer
Lori,

I am glad the litter is doing so well!!!!!

We sell out kittens at age 4 months.  However, until they are properly weaned and have been socialized and at least one set of shots, I would not take them to the shelter. Unlike puppies, kittens do better in new homes when they are a little older, so I would not take them to rescue util at least 10-12 weeks of age.

Best regards... Norm.
