Question
we picked up an abandoned cat 5days ago. she is quite thin, not very playful, she likes to sleep day and night. she is eating and drinking fine, and knew to go in the litter box. we noticed that she has a white discharge coming from her genitals. what could this be? what can i do for it? we felt sorry for her and hope this can be her new home. she also had watery eyes, i gave her some drops and they appear to be fine now. she doesnt meow much either, she is very affectionate always rubbing up on us to be pet.

Answer
Khrissy,

Remember, I am not a vet!

How old is the cat?  Is she spayed?

I would get her to a vet to see what is going on. Unless she is pregnant and about to give birth, that white discharge usually is the sign of an infection.  If she is not spayed and not about to give birth, she may have a pyometria, which needs immediate treatment. If she is spayed, it could be a very serious urinary tract infection, or who knows what else???????

Please let me know what your vet says.

Best regards... Norm.
