QUESTION: quest
how long does it usally takes a cat to deliver and is it constant labor are could it be on and off

Answer
Patsys,

I am sorry I am a bit late answering this, but I have been out of town since Friday morning.

In answer to your question, the problem is that it depends.  Some cats do the whole thing in couple of hours.  They deliver a kitten (the first one often takes an hour, and then they wait a few minutes have the next kitten in 15 minutes or so, etc. Some cats take an hour to deliver the first kitten once labor starts and may take a couple of hours between each kitten as they empty one horn of the uterus. Then they wait some number of hours (up to 48) and empty the other horn of the uterus.  In general most deliveries are somewhere in between these two extremes.

If you are concerned, as I said before, take your kitty to the vet!!!!!

Best regards... Norm.
