Question
My cat doesn't not finish her bowel movements in the litte box. She thinks she's done and jumps out and finishes elsewhere. Charlotte Sherrell suggested we keep her litter box clean but that is not the problem-we clean her litter box constantly. Is there a stool softener for her?
Thank you in advance--Joyce

Answer
Hi Joyce.  You may want to add a teaspoon of pea or squash baby food to some canned cat food each day for her.  This fiber will help draw moisture into her bowels to prevent minor constipation.

If this doesn't help, you may also use a hairball treatment such as Laxatone.  This is a gel, and you would probably need to give her 1/2 teaspoon (2 1/2 mls) each day until you saw improvement.  After that, she may need only 1/4 teaspoon (1 1/4  ml) or less a day.  This is a lubricant laxative.

Hope that helps her out!
