Cats/out door adult male cat did not come home for 2 nights

Question
My outdoor cat that I have had for 6yrs. has been going outside for about 2yrs now.  I let him out after an older male cat past away, up until than both cats were indoor cats. I recently adopted a dog from a local animal shelter, and boo is not very fond of rosie to say the least, I'v had the dog for 2 weeks now.  Sunday boo went out as usual that nite I was returning from a walk with rosie and the she started running after something I didn't see what, but I think it was boo.  Boo didn't come home that nite or the next day, it is now the 2nd day boo has been gone and I am starting to worry.  My neighbor did say she saw boo near her house yesterday am and pm, but he has yet to come home. What do you think?

Answer
Meg,

I think Boo is a bit upset with having a new 4 legged edition to the household.  Fortunately, cats tend to stay close to their home territory.  Unfortunately, cats are excellent at hiding in plain sight.

Normally, if you leave Boo's favorite food in a garage, or the like, he will usually be back for more and you can coral him then.  What will transpire after that when you let him out is an unknown.  If Boo warms up to Rosie, he will probably tend to come back after his sojourn outside.  Only time will tell.

Good luck and best regards... Norm.
