Cats/Male Cat smells like urine

Question
My 16 month old, male, desexed cat has suddenly started smelling like urine.  He has always been fastidiously clean and didn't really smell like anything.  Is there any common reason why he should be smelling so bad.  It started only 2 days ago.  He has vomited once also, which is not usual either.  Other than that, he is still playful and doesn't seem overly lethargic.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tiffany

Answer
Tiffany,

At age 16, your boy is quite geriatric, but, congratulations for taking such good care of him that he is still going strong.  I am not a vet, but he may smell because he is not cleaning himself as well as usual.  Like older folks, geriatric cats tend to get a number of illnesses associated with old age.  I suspect he has a medical issue and a visit to the vet is in order. I would suspect a urinary tract issue.

Please let me know what you find out.

Best regards... Norm.
