Question
I read great reviews on the product "Plaque Off"  What do you think of it?  Will it harm my cats?

Answer
Hi Lee.  Plaque Off is probably not harmful to cats.  Probably not the answer you were looking for!  The only issue I can find with it is that it contains a lot of iodine, and many cat foods are already higher in iodine than the cat really needs.  And there have been some preliminary studies that suggest too much iodine in a cat's diet can lead to an overactive thyroid, now one of the most common health conditions in older cats.

Plaque Off may be beneficial, but brushing and dental cleanings to remove tartar are much more important when it comes to maintaining your kitties' dental health.  However, to help between brushing, you might want to consider a brand of veterinary dental care items, C.E.T., which many vets recommend as their first choice.  I don't believe it comes in a sprinkle-on powder, but it does come in cat treats, as well as oral gels, tooth pastes, and a supplement you can add to drinking water to prevent plaque build-up, called AquaDent.

Hope that helps!
