Question
Over the last couple weeks my 18 month old domestic tabby cat has become evil in the evening with just myself (not my kids or husband)... I do absolutely nothing to provoke him, like this evening I just happened to walk into the room he was in and he charged across the room and latched onto my hand so hard he instantly bruised me and when I got him off he stood at my feet growling at my... I had to grab him completely and carry him out of the room trying to be calm to calm him down.
I've tried to remember if anything has been taken away or changed, but nothing!
can you help??!!??

Answer
He Sarah,

Is your cat neutered? Aggression like this is usually a hormonal issue. Un-neutered males can be aggressive. You should get him neutered if he is not already.

Also make sure you play with him at least 15 minutes per day with a toy that gets him running around. He needs an outlet for his youthful energy. Play with a feather wand or a laser pointer right before bed time to wear him out a bit.

You should also have him checked by the vet because certain parasites and hormonal disorders can cause aggression.

Please do NOT ask me if you should take your cat to the vet - if you have any reason to suspect your cat is ill or injured please call your vet immediately!
