Question
QUESTION: My cat is pregnant-i'm not sure how far along but I think she's pretty close to labor.  Shes been having alot of discharge in the past few day, what does this mean?

ANSWER: Gracie,

I am sorry I have not been able to get to this sooner.

Usually, this type of discharge means she is within a week of having kittens.  They can come immediately or a week after the dsicharge starts.

Has she had the kittens yet?

Best regards... Norm.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: She has not had the kittens yet and the discharge is very minimal at this point, we were keeping her in the garage and she has now started sneezing frequently, watery eyes and a you can hear her congestion when she is breathing is there anything we can give her over the counter to help?
Thanks
Gracie

Answer
Gracie,

She really needs to see a vet.  I am not a vet, but the odds are she has a virus, and, so, a mild antibiotic to help the symptoms of any secondary bacterial infection may be warranted.  Amoxycillion is very safe for pregnant queens, but I would still take her to see your vet. There is nothing over the counter I would give her!!!!!

Best regards... Norm.
