| Comment | Jessica, thank you SO much for your helpful response.. I ended up taking him yesterday to the vet.. his heart/lungs sounded good but he had a temperature (104) and he's lost 4 pounds since last visit. The vet ran a FIV / FLV test and both were negative (thank goodness), no teeth abscess, but there were some red spots around his gums (I can't remember the name of what she said it could be, but it's viral) and tongue. She ran a CBC panel and his white blood cell count was high (20,000),as was his ALT, but she said all the other kidney/liver tests were all good. She gave him subcutaneous fluids, some pain medicine, and sent me home with some Clavamox and more pain medication. She thinks it's some type of acute infection and hopefully the Clavamox will take care of it. She also said the mouth issue should respond to the clavamox as well. He's already feeling much better.. he's playful, slept with me (as usual), and ate some last night. He wasn't even bad about getting the liquid Clavamox, and he even ate some (hard) treats afterwards! I was fearing the worst, especially with FIV/FLV.. with 5 cats, I can't imagine. Hopefully this will work itself out.. $270 later (the vets let me break it up into 4 payments. they understand i'm on a fixed income, and are really good about that) and I'm so glad I took him in.. my cats are everything to me, and their health is very important. I'm lucky I found a great vet who will work with me financially. Anyway, thank you again. I really appreciate your kindness and knowledge. Keenan thanks you too! :) | ||
