Question
I Have 5 month old kitten. He has no tail. his mother is part minx and also has no tail. However his buttox or rectum is not formed properly. THe stool dosnt exit properly and build up on the outside. What could this be? is there anything I can do for him?

Answer
Hi Marlana.  You'd have to consult a vet to be sure, but it's possible the kitten could be suffering a condition known as "Manx syndrome", where the gene that causes the taillessness shortens the spine too much.  This can cause nerve problems and issues with the bowels.  I'm not exactly sure why the stool is building up, if it's because the stool is too hard or because of the position of the kitten's rectum, or because of lack of anal tone...but there should be help with some of these things.  Adding fiber or a gentle laxative to his diet may help if mild constipation is part of the problem.  I would schedule an appointment to have the kitten examined by a vet and discuss your best treatment options with them.

Best wishes!
