Question
my cat is 5 months old and shes been having stomach pains and she whines when i rub her belly.
what could this be and what can i do?

Answer
Hi Carolyna.  You should have a vet examine your kitty.  There are lots of vital organ that are vulnerable to touch in the belly area, and if something's hurting her there, it could indicate something serious.  It may indicate kidney or liver problems, a bladder infection, a hernia, or something as simple as gas that may be caused by parasites.  A vet is trained to detect pain by the way your cat tenses in response to pressure.  He or she will know which area seems to be most painful by this reaction when they apply pressure to certain organs and will be able to decide which treatment or further tests are most appropriate from there.

I hope all goes well!
