Question

KOKO Siamese Mix
Hi Norman,
I took in a 2 yr old cat a few years ago that was origionally adopted from a shelter. He is the biggest cat I've ever owned, not obese, just big features (head eyes body ect) We've always known he has siamese in him, I'm also wondering if you can tell by looking at his pictures if he was specially bred or if he is an exotic mix? He has huge blue eyes and it looks like bulls eye pattern on both his sides with the seal point ears. He also has an "S" tattooed in his ear.

Answer
Pamela,

Wow, Koko is a big fellow!!!!

He does have the Siamese pattern (color mostly on his face, ears, tail, and paws, known as the points).  This pattern also comes with blue eyes and tends to shade on the body as the cat gets older.  The bulls eyes on the side are due to the fact he also has a classic tabby pattern along with the pointed pattern.  When there are tabby markings in the points, the term used is lynx point.  So he has a seal lynx point pattern.  Although this pattern came from the Siamese originally, it has been in the feral population for over a century. So, yes there is some Siamese back there, but, probably, pretty far back.  So, his is not an abnnormal pattern to crop up in the feral population.

The "S" tatooed in the ear is from a shelter and generally denotes the cat has been neuterd or spayed.

Koko looks to be a wonderful, handsome cat.

Best regards... Norm.
