Cats/loud annoying howling

Question
I have a 2yr old male cat that is not yet neutered and is meowing very loudly especially at night or when he is in a room alone without us. He has peed on our couch in the same spot three times and we cannot leave him out of our watch for even a minute before he does it. He even will pee outside his box but also in it too. He's eating and drinking normal. We do have other cats.this problem just starting a few months ago. He howls with the loud meows too. Do u think he is marking his territory or should we worry about him having a UTI?

Answer
Jennie,

The first order of business is to get him neutered. The odds are that he is just acting very hormonal. In most cases, neutering takes care of these behaviors.  When you take him to get an appointment for neutering, you can have the vet check for UTI.

Finally, make sure you clean up the area with a good enzyme based cleaner specifically for pet stains and pet odors (available at most pet supermarkets and farm stores).  From the sounds of it, you may need quite a bit to clean up where he has been peeing.

Best regards... Norm.
