Question

Karly
Hi Norman,

I sent you another email regarding my kitten Cubbie. I also have another 10 month old kitten that I rescued and am curious to her possible breed background.

Karly has very distinctive characteristic quirks that remind me of a Maine Coon, she likes to chirp and is very vocal, she loves to play in the water (she's actually obsessed with water, lol) and she's very affectionate! she loves to snuggle and has to kiss your face at least a dozen times a day...she's displaying a calm personality and very laid back although she's hyper when playing. She accepts other cats very readily even strangers that she's just met...she is an indoor kitty but loves to go out on the balcony that is closed in.  I know its a long shot but I'm just curious as her physical appearance reminds me of a Maine Coon also. She is very large bone structure and fur is very thick and almost water proof..,her fur doesn't need much maintenance either.  At 8 months of age she weighed just over 8lbs...

Thanks for any info :)
Anne

Answer
Anne,

Maine Coons are the indigenous North American domestic long haired working cats.  So, it is highly probable that Karly has lots of Maine Coon back there.  She certainly has the bone, the head structure, body structure, and coat reminiscent of Maine Coons.

Best regards... Norm.

CommentThank you Norman for the info, appreciate it. I know my Karly is a mix but she really seems to be everything I've read about Maine Coons right down to the chirping...I'm very lucky to have this beautiful little soul a part of my family. Many thanks! Anne
