how often does a newborn cat poop in a day?

Hi Kimi,

Usually a newborn will poop at least once or twice a day, but sometimes they will only poop once every other day, and this is not necessarily a problem for them.  If it goes beyond 48 hours between bowel movements, or the kitten becomes fussy and isn't eating well, then a vet should be consulted regarding constipation.

I have experience with liver patients, heart patients, feline infectious peritonitis, cancer, recovery from amputation and trauma, congenital deformities and most every disease in between. I have assisted cats giving birth and hand-nursed kittens who were neglected by their mother from 2 days old through weaning.
