Question
I have recently brought home a male 5wk old kitten..and tried to introduce him to my 2 6mth old neutered brother kittens...their mother and father are the same...will they realise they are brothers..one of my older cats has hissed..but the other just ignores the newcomer..how can i make interaction easier?

Answer
Hi Anne,

Cats don't realize family ties like we do when they are from separate litters. You can use a cat introduction protocol with them. Or, since he is so young, just let them sort it out. It will take a few weeks but they should be fine. The reactions you are seeing from the older ones are totally normal. Here's a link to a protocol.

Good luck with him. And don't forget to neuter him. Neutered males make the best companions.
