Question
My cat is giving birth and she's only been pregnant about a month, she' only had one, but it seems to be kind of 'stuck', I'm afraid that if I do anything I'll hurt her. Please help ASAP

Answer
Hi Kayleigh,

This definitely requires the attention of the vet.  If your cat hasn't delivered the kittens, she should see a vet right away.  A kitten stuck in the birth canal can be fatal very quickly.

If she has finished miscarrying, you may still wish to seek veterinary attention for her.  Many miscarriages are caused by illnesses.  She may need antibiotics to treat a problem such as a uterine infection that could have been the cause of the miscarriage.

Best of luck!

I have 15 years of extensive experience with cats ranging from breeding to medical care. My daily routine consists of caring for cats with diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney failure, feline leukemia, feline AIDS as well as feral cats. I have experience with liver patients, heart patients, feline infectious peritonitis, cancer, recovery from amputation and trauma, congenital deformities and most every disease in between. I have assisted cats giving birth and hand-nursed kittens who were neglected by their mother from 2 days old through weaning.
