Cats/My Kitten

Question
1. My first problem is that my kitten was weaned too early. Every time I pet him, he begins to get all cuddly and tries to find something to suck on. At first he'd always try to suck on my neck or my hair, but after pushing him off a couple times, he resorted to sucking on the corner of my blanket or his tail. This worries me because I think he may damage the end of his tail if he continues making this a habbit. Is there a way I can get him to stop?

2. My second problem is that he always fucks around in the litter box and plays with his shit. Honestly he's always kicking the cat litter up, and it makes a huge mess. . Is there a way to get him to stop this?

Answer
Hi Carly,

Here's a good link that explains alot about tail sucking.

Basically he should grow out of it. It is a comfort thing. Just keep an eye on the tail tip. As for the litter problem, he is just a kitten. He sounds like he is getting a kick out of playing in the litter. Again, he will grow out of it. You can get a high sided litter box. Just makes sure he is able to climb in and out. Also get a rug for catching any of the strewn litter. And play with him more. It sounds like he needs more play time. The thing is, kittens do a lot of cute and annoying things. You have to grin and bear it. And remember they grow up faster and mature quicker than kids. You have to wait it out. Good luck and take care.
