Question
my cat is 18ms old this is 2nd litter i didn't know she was pregnant till tummy very big alot bigger than first time last night she deliverd 3 kittens she is still very big how long between last kitten can she go before she has more her last litter was 4 she seems to have more inside it has bin 8 hrs since last one.

Answer
Carmen,

Sometimes, the queen will  empty one horn of the uterus, wait some time (as much as 24-48 hours) and then have the rest of the kittens.

Sometimes as big as they may be, they may only be carrying a few.  When it appears she is done, but you think there may be more, it is a good idea to visit your vet to see what is going on. At the very leat, if she is finished, it nwould be a good idea to get an oxytocin shot and a penicillin G shot (they can be combined into 1 shot). The oxytocin is a hormone that will flush the uterus, condition the huterus and help in milk production. The peniclin G helps protect aginst strp G that the kittesn can sometims contract from mama.

Even with the shot, it may take a couplke of days for the uterus to return to normal and there may be some hemorrhaging for a couple of days after that.

Please let me know what happens.

Seasonal regards... Norm.

Please let me know how it all comes out.
