Cats/My male cat is no longer affectionate with me

Question
Hi Karen,
I have two adorable persian cats but my male cat is no longer affectionate with me since the female cat arrived. I got the male cat first whe he was three months old and then I got teh female cat when they both were 4 months old. She is very affectionale, comes when I call her and purrs a lot. He used to be cuddly and to follow me everywhere but he no longer does. Now he ignores me when I call him and grumbles when I try to cuddle him. He used to pee on my bed and sofa but does do it now that often. He chases the female cat as they are not fixed but she does not like that. She is very playful but he is not that much. He likes to stay on hos own, sleep a lot and wath out the windows but does not like to go out. When I feed them, he lets her eat frst and then eats.
Do you know what is wrong with my male cat? What can I do to make him affectionate again with me? I tried showing him more attention but it does not seem to help...

Answer
Hi Christopher,

Your whole problem will be fixed when your cats are fixed. Your male is marking his territory. And he will not get any friendlier until he is fixed. This will remove a lot of his now aggressive nature. And fixing both will take any future problems that will come about when she goes into heat. Please get them neutered. You and they will be happier. Good luck and take care.
