Question
Hello,

We moved on the 28th November and yesterday I accidently left the door open. Both cats escaped without me even realsing the door was open and we went out, you can imagine our upset when we got in at 1am, luckily one cat returned at about 3am, however (the shyer and more timid cat) is no where to be seen. I have out up posters, called the vets, searched for hours, shaken treats, put food (only resulted in neighbours cat eating it) and a sweater out and still no sign of him. Do you know any tricks of finding them/getting them to come home.

Please, it would be the best Christmas present to have him come home.

Answer
Katie,

As well as searching your own environs, have you searched the area where your former household was located?  Cats are very territorial and it is highly possible your one cat may have gone back to your old neighborhood!!!!!! If you have a picture, you might want to get flyers to all the local veterinarians (i.e. local to both neighborhoods) and post the flyers in both neighborhoods.

Also, cats are excellent at hiding in plain sight, so your cat may be right under your nose and your would easily miss it. or it may be right under your former neighbor's nose and they might just miss it.

If your cat does get spotted, you might just get a live trap from your local RSPCA to capture your missing kitty in which ever neighborhood they decide to turn up in.
