Cats/Cat throwing up

Question
My 1 yr old cat has been throwing up since this morning.  It has a sausage-like shape.  After she threw up all the food she was throwing up bile looking stuff.  She has no decrease in appetite it seems (just got upset we took her food up) and is drinking water like normal.  She has slept a little more than normal today, but is not acting listless when awake. Gave her some tuna water and she took that (something she loves) and ate some left-over cat treats, but threw that up about 10 minutes later (this just happened).  Want to put her on a fast overnight, then give her some boiled chicken in the morning.  Is there anything else you can recommend for her?

Not sure if it matters, but she got spayed about 1 1/2 months ago and seems to have healed nicely.  She was a stray we took in about 5 or 6 months ago.  Very playful and rambunctious (goes about 1000 miles an hour normally. Her name is Tigger because of this.

Answer
Hi Becky,

Did Tigger get into any thing she shouldn't have? Plants, chemicals, pills can cause reactions this. Check your house over thoroughly. Did you change her food lately? This can cause a cat to get an upset stomach. Has she been wormed lately? Having worms can cause vomiting. She could have swallowed something that is blocking her stomach. This also can cause vomiting. She is too young to have some of the metabolic diseases that can cause vomiting. Fasting is a good idea for the evening. If she is not better by morning then I would suggest a visit to the vet. It is very rare that a young cat develops hyperthyroidism but it can happen. Hopefully this isn't anything major. Good luck and take care.
