Question
QUESTION: ive a kitten of 3 and a half weeks old mother didnt want to know ive been feeding a kitten milk from vets shes been weeing for me has ive been stimuting her and no poos yet shes also been licking herself and been in the litter tray herself she healthy and all shes walking about and doing what shes suppose to do ive had her a day now but just worried bout her not pooing can you please help

ANSWER: Hi Vikki,

Sometimes kittens don't poo every day. If she doesn't go by the third day then you might want to have the vet look at her. Check the litter box. It sounds like she is going on her own there. I'm attaching my recipe for something called Kitty Glop. Feed her this. It will help her grow big and strong. Keep her warm. Getting chilled is the number one killer of kits. Here are a couple of good links about raising orphan kits. They have good useful info.

KITTY GLOP

INGREDIENTS:
1 can goat milk or evaporated milk(not sweetened condensed).
2 tbsp. plain yogurt (not low or non fat) Plain Greek Yogurt is best.
2 tbsp. mayonnaise (real not light or No-Fat)
1 tbs. Karo Syrup (light)
1 pkg. Knox unflavored gelatin
1 egg yolk (beaten)
1 cup Pedialyte (unflavored)
1- 2 jars Stage One Baby food (chicken or turkey)
1 can Kitten food, same flavor as baby food

INSTRUCTIONS:
Mix milk, yogurt, mayonnaise, baby food, kitten food and syrup together well. Bring 1 cup pedialyte to boil and mix in Knox gelatin. Set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well.

Add gelatin and pedialyte mix to milk mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Remember to not use egg substitute and keep egg white to a minimum.

Pour into bowl (with cover) and set in refrigerator. Glop will last for two weeks covered in refrigerator. Try freezing the mixture in ice cube trays and store the cubes in the freezer. Thaw as many as needed.
Always warm glop to room temperature ,(milk form), or a little warmer, before feeding.

ANSWER: Hi Vikki Lee,

Kittens don't have to poo everyday. But if it goes beyond three days then you have to worry. And yes, she does need to settle in. In fact, I bet she now is fine. Take care and good luck.

QUESTION: thanks for your help yes shes settled in now shes eatin well and going toilet every day for me can you tell me when is the best time to start weaning her shes 4 weeks old now ive been trying but shes not intersted and littering training help please shes been twice in there  wees only  i do put her in and scratch her paws

Answer
Hi Vikki Lee,

I don't like to wean kittens until about 8-10 weeks old. I feel it gives them a better chance in life. She will get the hang of the litter box. Make sure the box is low enough for her to use. I usually use a cardboard soda flat for the first litter box. Just put it in the nesting area with a little litter in it. Kittens will play in the box a lot and kick the litter all over the place. You can also try this stuff.

It will help train her. Sounds like you are doing a great job. You are going to have a great furry companion there. Good luck and take care.
