Question
Ihave two cats, one Neutered Tom (1 year old) found himat 4 weeks and he issuch a lovable cat. The other is a female of around 5 weeks. I have a few problems and I am doubting whether to keep the female (Rosie). When I allow Billy and Rosie together they play very roughly and she squeals quite a bit but she doesn't seem to b hurt. I can't leave them Alone. My main problem is her smell. I keep her in a back room with a litter tray (which she uses) and her food. She gives off an awfully pungent musty smell which permeates through the house, I'm finding it hard to stand. Her fur smells slightly of it too. Please can you tell me what the problem might be and how I can fix it?! She so cute but I want my house to smell nice again. Air freshener and deodorising cat litter does nothing!

The other thing is my Tom cat can't seem to stay away from the  room she's in he crys at it at night, please help.

Answer
Ben,

Is Rosie spayed?  If not, that would be the first order of business.

If Rosie has a peculiar odor, that may be a sign of illness.  Has she been checked out by your vet?

If Rosie is spayed and has been checked out by your vet, I would let the two of them run the house. The rough play is normal for cats.  They have very, very tough skin and rough play is often the norm. As long as no one draws blood, I would not worry about the squealing as it is often part of the game.

Please let me know what happens.

Best regards... Norm.
