Question
QUESTION: my cat had 5 kittens 36hrs ago. while she was pregnant she would have fast n heavy breathing. one of the kittens (the 1st born) was born with a deformity(his back legs are formed backwards). this is also her 1st litter. but she is still breathing fast and panting alot especially when she feeds them, she eats the same even gets up to drink thats the only funny behavior. i cant tell if anything is still in her belly r if its the milk glands, should i be worried. by the way the kitten is doing fine n still alive n just as strong as the others.

ANSWER: Hi Kirsten,

I would strongly suggest a visit to the vet is in order. You need to make sure that mom is okay. And you need to have that kitten examined. And you need to really think about what care that kitten is going to need.
Here is a link about kittens with this disorder. http://www.pandecats.com/x/caring-for-a-kitten-born-with-a-twisted-leg.shtml

It will take a little effort on your part but the kit can walk almost normally with the extra care it will need. But I would definitely get mom cat to the vet for a post partum checkup. Good luck and take care. And let me know how the little guy, (or girl), is doing.
