Question
Our, almost 3 yr old, Cornish Rex is losing her fur.  We've only had her about 6 months but she had a full coat when we got her.

Answer
Hi Robin,

This is quite common in the breed. She will lose her coat, but then it will come back. However, sometimes, it doesn't.  I once had a completely bald Cornish Rex!  She looked just like those sphynx cats and I loved her!  But don't worry, that is very rare.  My Cornish Rex is about 8 years old now, and she also went thru that .  Her coat has been very nice up until lately, and now she is starting to lose it again.  Be careful when brushing your rex, as thier coats are very sensitive.  Hopefully, yours will lose its coat then come back better than ever!

God Bless,
Becky

Expertise

I am not a breeder,so please direct any breeding and/or birthing questions to an "expert" that is. I love all cats but my favorites are the Rex and Siamese. I used to show Cornish Rex as a hobby but have not been able to for a few years. Right now I have three Siamese and one Cornish Rex. As a former veterinarian assistant, I can help you with general healthcare issues. Being a cat owner for years, I will be glad to answer any behaviour and/or nutrition questions too. Please remember, I am NOT a Veterinarian, so if your kitty is seriously ill, please do not hesitate to contact a Vet.
