Question
Hi I have a 11 1/2 month old indoor cat and she has been throwing up about 3 days now and we just don't know whats wrong with her I don't think shes sick she plays around the house and she eats great..Do you think that maybe I am giving her too much of can food??She eats can food and dry food..

Answer
Jasna,

Cats sometimes throw up when they eat too much too fast. Is she throwing up undigested food (chunky stuff), partly digested food ((smooth brown semi-digested cat food) or bile, which looks more mucousy and yellow green or white?

If it is food, try feeding her smaller more frequent meals. She may also be allergic to something in the food. Many cats throw up if they eat any grain. Try feeding her another type - I recommend Wellness canned food because it has no grains in it.

Canned food (high quality, not Friskies) is better for your cat actually, and is more digestible so as long as there are no grains such as corn rice or wheat in it. Try swicthing her to canned Wellness only and see how she does!

If she shows any other signs of being sick such as lethargy, inability to defecate or anything else, take her to the vet immediately because those signs could indicate a blockage in her esophagus or intestine, which can be very dangerous. But since she is acting normally otherwise it's probably just her food.
