Cats/Cat nutrition, older cat.

QuestionDear Becky, This question may be too complicated but please give it a try! I am also an "expert" here, in the Jewelry, Gems and Minerals category and understand when questions are "in" or "out" of our area of knowledge.
We have an older Maine Coon(shelter kitty) who is a female, about 15 years old. She recently had a very successful treatment for over active thyroid. The second check showed the beginnings of a kindey problem and the clinic recommended a low fat food diet for her. They said low fat would help her do better and she could live a longer life, natural lifespan with diet, generally.
My question is this: Can you recommend any particular foods or brands for low fat content? We generally use Friskies wet food and Purina dry food, for the other kitties in the house who prefer the dry food.
I wrote Purina but did not get an answer. The speicial diets often prescribed by the clinic are not appealing to the other cats in the house or to the one being given a special diet. It is quite difficult to "diet" a cat when there are also 3 others to feed! Any advice at all will be appreciated. Thanks very much for any response. Thomas.
AnswerHi Thomas,
It amazes me that a veterinary clinic tells you to put your cat on a low fat diet, but doesn't give you a good food recomendation! None of your over the counter cat foods are going to give you the results you want. They are high in fat and full of fillers.
A really good food is called Life's Abundance. I copied a little bit about it and have pasted it here for you:
"Life's Abundance® is made using only fresh, human-quality ingredients such as a delectable blend of premium all natural chicken, liver, and turkey with top quality catfish, along with fresh vegetables and grasses that will appeal to even the most discriminating palate. Added to Life's Abundance® is a superior blend of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to help contribute to a healthy daily diet. Contains no artificial flavors, colors, sugars, or chemical preservatives."
You can't find this food at your local store. This food is delivered to your door! I have to tell you that it is more expensive, but I promise you , this is the best food you can buy for your cat. You actually will feed less, therefore it's not as expensive as it seems. Go here to check it out:

Then click on Healthy Pet Net... go to "cat food".
Your cat will not only feel better but live longer eating this! All of your cats will! I really cannot recommend any other for your situation.
I hope this helps!
God Bless,
Becky
