Cats/Cats outdoors and neuturing

Question
Hi Our Bengal cat is 5 months old now and getting very fidgety about wanting to go out all the time. I do take him out on his harness but do want to start to let him go out freely as we live next to fields and the main road is quite a way away however we plan to get him neutered in 4 weeks time when he reaches 6 months but wondered if it would be ok to let him out freely now or is he reaching maturity where he may go in search of a mate and not come back? Any advice you have would be most welcome?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Debbie,

I don't think it's a good idea to let him out to roam freely. There is a lot out there that can really hurt him or kill him. What I would suggest for you to do is build an outdoor pen for him. This way he can go outside an enjoy himself while you are keeping him safe. Here's a link just to show you what can happen to your cat. And under that is what you can do instead. Good luck. And I hope you make the right decision.
