Question
------------------------- Hi Tomay-
Well Beamer and I made the move together-- And he seems to be adapting rather well. I actually think he thought I was leaving him behind again like I did this past summer for a couple of months when I relocated. So as of right now he is back to his old normal self - eating, sleeping, cuddling, and lounging around. Thanks for your advice. I will keep you posted if anything strange would start to happen with him and his behavior.  Thanks again!!   Meow!! Tessa and Beamer

P.S. I think Beamer likes to be center of attention - At the old place he had to share the stage with the other cat Lou.(Which secretly I think he really really liked- but never really let on that he did) Now it's like old times just me and him.

Dear Tomay,
I am going to try to make a long story short. Last summer I relocated to Flordia. I moved my cat down in Nov. We moved into beach house. On the same day my roomate moved in his cat. So there was no special treatment etc. It took some time to adjus, but it was all good- He has gotten outside a few times-which he never has done before in Pa. He seemed to love it. He acutally attacked me when I tried to get him to come inside. Recently he was missing for 36 hrs and was found 4 blocks away.I am moving out to my own apartment and I have started to pack- He has peed/sprayed on the boxes and bathroom. I am not leaving him behind he is going with me. I think this is all Stressed related. I feel like a really bad person/mom. How can I comfort him etc... Or why is he acting like this? I don't know... What to do because I have to move-I want him to come - My roomate has said I can leave him with him and his cat because he thinks he doesn't want to go but I want him with me he has been with me for 14years. But I will do what is best for him? Please advise... Thanks in advance for your help. I just want my old Beamer back. We are scheduled to move out this Saturday 1-27-06. He was neutered when he was 1 years old. Thanks Tessa

Hello Tessa,
I am sorry for the delay, but I think your original requests got misdirected somehow.  Sorry to hear of your dilemma.  Sounds like Beamer has his mind made up.  His actions are one of a cat who is reluctant to change his enviornment.  Will you be living far from him?  Is it possible that you could come back for him in a few days.  Maybe he will be more willing to go with you if he hasn't seen you for a while.  I know that leaving your companion of 14 years behind may be difficult, but if you know that he will be in safe hands, and that he seems happy living his indoor/outdoor life, then I am prone to say that perhaps it would be best for him to remain in his present home.  It would be worth a try, though, to see if be more cooperative after a short separation.
Good luck with this, and if you can, let me know how things work out for you and Beamer.
Thank you
Tomay

Answer
Yippee!! I am glad to hear that things are working out well..so far.  Now that he's an only child again, maybe everything will continue to improve.  And maybe there may be a little brother or sister in his future.?. In light of the fact that you think he really liked his other roommate and companion, a kitten may provide him some company and keep him on his toes.  Good luck to you guys, and thank you so much for letting me know how things went!
