Cats/Mother cat ignoring Kittens

Question
A mother cat gave birth to her kittens in my house around one and a half months ago. Last week i left all of them(including the mother cat) to a place near by because my grand mother didn't allow them to stay here anymore. Then the Mother cat returned to my home, so i left her back to the kittens again. She seems to be coming back here everytime i leave her back to the kittens. She is ignoring the kittens but comes to my home and cries(meow and meow everywhere) so i called in the blue cross and let them take the one and the half months old kittens.
i just wanted to know did i do the right thing or not?
for how long does the mother cat care about her kittens? please reply. thanks in advance :)

Answer
Hi Neeraj,

Six weeks is a little early but they will be fine. Some mom cats just don't want to do anything with the kittens after a certain period of time. You did the right thing by giving the kittens to those who will take care of them. Good luck.
