Question
Hi, I took in a stray cat on Feb. 17, 2007. I took her to the vet to be check-out and they said she looked good, and to come back in a month for her shots. I took her in around the end of March for her shots. I left my apartment on Saturday April 21 and when I returned Sunday, to my surprise I found a litter of six kittens under my bed. They have all survived and the queen seems to be taking great care of them. They have all been to the vet for a check-up and it was a positive visit. However, I have been unable to move the kittens and they are still under my bed. Also, they are beginning to move around and I do not want them to run around my apartment. I am just looking for some advice on how to move them and where. I have some space in my dining room, but I do not know how to keep them there without having access to the rest of the apartment. I would really appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Rach,

If you have some type of doors to close then keep them in there. You can use baby gates if you don't have doors. Just remember at a certain point they will be able to climb over the gates. If it is open then the only thing I can suggest is to get a large dog cage and put them in there. You will have to let the mom out after she has attended the kittens. The mom should be with the kittens about 60-70% of the time. Make sure it is warm and they have good bedding so they stay warm. Good luck.
