Cats/Pregnant Cat

Question
I took in a homeless cat that I was feeding. I believe she's about year old and pregnant. You can see the two lumps on the side. But I don't feel any movement. Would you have any idea how along she may be. I just want to be ready when she is ready to deliver.
Thank You for your time and help.

Answer
Hi Teri,

A cat's gestation period is between 63-69 days. If she is showing the belly bulge she is at least 5-6 weeks along. She could also be closer to giving birth than that. I would start to set up a birthing area for her and get her used to it. You can set up a bed of towels for her or old clothes. Make sure the area is quiet and warm. Also this is the time to start feeding her kitten food. It gives her a higher nutritional food that she needs for the kittens. Keep feeding her this while she is nursing. Write back if you have any more questions. Good luck.
